The Pyrenees - Route and Mountain Profiles Page 1

I have finalised the route for this year's one day Pyrenean epic.  Please click here to access the first part of the Pyrenean route and here for the second part.

A full breakdown of this route (Pau to Bagneres-de-Luchon 191km) is listed below together with further details of each of the six mountain passes:-

The route - Pau to Bagneres-de-Luchon (191km)

1.  START at Pau and travel southwards on road number N134, then the D934 towards Spain.

2.  At Beost, I'll be turning left onto the D918 eastwards towards the first mountain, the Col d'Aubisque.  I will ride up this mountain and continue eastwards up the second ascent, the Col du Soulor.

3.  I'll be continuing on the D918 towards Argeles-Gazost, before turning right onto the D913.  I'll then continue towards Artalens Souin, where I will already be on the ascent to the summit of Hautacam.

4. As this mountain is essentially a cul-de-sac, I'll need to ride back to the junction where I joined the D913, then turn left and head southwards on the D913.

5.  At Villelongue, I'll need to turn left to join the D921 and head southeastwards.  At Esterre, I'll turn left onto the D918 towards the fourth mountain pass; the Col du Tourmalet.  After cycling up this ascent, I'll be heading northwards a little, descending down the Vallee de Campan.

6.  A right turn is necessary at Ste-Marie-de-Campan, where I'll be riding up the Col d'Aspin, before heading southeastwards on the D618.  This road will then take me into an easterly direction.

7.  The final mountain, the Col de Peyresourde shortly follows, ensued by a descent into the valley.

8. FINISH at Bagneres-de-Luchon on the D618.
